Right now, this is just an import version of http://orb.at.ufl.edu/docutech/docutechhelp.html until new content can be worked out.

Who can use the Print Ordering System?

IFAS County Extension Offices, research centers, and departments can use the EDIS system to order publications. Each unit has an assigned user name, password, and account which provides authorized access to the system.

The publications will be printed by FedEx Kinkos, either at their facility on Mowry Road or at the store nearest you, and may be picked up or delivered.

How much can my unit spend on print copies?

Limits have been established for print orders based on anticipated credits which will be made available by FedEx-Kinko's as part of our contract. Units will run up a balance each fiscal year and should not exceed their established limit.

Can my unit use "EDIS money" to buy books from the IFAS Bookstore?

No. The money in EDIS accounts is actually a credit with FedEx-Kinko's and can only be used for print orders.

I've got a copy of a publication I need to order, but I do not know the Digital Library Number (DLN). How do I find it?

Use the Print Ordering System Search.

Searching by IFAS Publication Number (IPN)

You can usually find the IPN in the upper right hand corner of the first page of the document, e.g., "Circular 912" or "SS-AGR-01". Enter this number with no dashes or spaces, and abbreviate "Circular" and "Bulletin" to "CIR" and "BUL" (e.g., "CIR912", "SSAGR01")

Searching by title and/or author

A search can be completed on a publication title, author, and/or department fields. A publication will be listed if the word or phrase is contained within the field. If the words do not appear within the publication title the database will not be able to match your search criteria.

Additional features

  • Search may be limited to English, Spanish or Creole by selecting the desired language limiter in the Language field of the search form.
  • You may specify the search term appear at the beginning, end, or exactly match the field in the database, using the left hand dropdown menus for the search fields.
  • You may sort your results in order of IPN, DLN, Availability, Title, Department, Cost, and Date. Select Z->A for reverse order.

How do I order Print Copies?

Fillin the form with the following information

  • DLN: This will be automatically filled in if you click on "Order" fromteh search results, but if you go to the order form directly you will need to have the Digital Library Number handy.
  • Number of copies: There is no longer a minimum order
  • Priority of request: (normal, urgent)
  • Black-and-White or Color?
  • Contact Person (optional)
  • Comments
  • Username:
  • Password:

After you have supplied the above information, select the submit request button to send the document to be printed. Your order will then be delivered electronically to a print queue and submitted to FedEx Kinkos for fulfillment.

What happens after I submit my order?

After the order has been sent to FedEx-Kinkos, the cost will be added to your running total. Statements will be delivered to DEDs biweekly.

How is the cost determined?

For black and white copies, a double-sided page is 7 cents, any single sided page is 3.5 cents. Each copy also has a 3.5 cent county sheet and a 1 cent staple. Color copies are 90 cents for each double-sided page, 45 cents for each single-side, plus the 3.5 cent county page and 1 cent staple. If the order will be delivered to your office, the cost is $5.00 for up to 40lbs, about the equivalent of a case of paper or 5,000 sheets of paper.

What are "E-mail only" publications?

Publications not presently in EDIS are listed in the publication database and can also be ordered, but as most of these have not been reviewed in several years, they will need to be approved for printing. Please allow time for this approval process when you make your order by sending an email to edis@ifas.ufl.edu.
